Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC) conducts DRDO SET Exam, notification is advertised on DRDO website (www.drdo.com & rac.drdo.in) & "The Employment News" for Direct Recruitment of Scientists 'B'. As per the notification, candidates applied who possess eligibility criteria’s are shortlisted for interview. If the applications received are large in number RAC shortlists the number to a limit as per the educational qualification / experience / achievements, in addition to the prescribed minimum qualification or by conducting a screening test named DRDO Scientist Entry Test.

Every year 1st Sunday of September will be the date for DRDO SET exam, in order to provide equal opportunities for students from all institutions in India. Last date for submitting application form is on May 2017, and DRDO SET Exam has two individual exam sessions with 3 hours duration. DRDO SET Exam is conducted in Engineering subjects such as Electrical, Chemical, Computer, Electronics/Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Metallurgy, Aero, Civil etc. and Science subjects such as Chemistry, Physics and Math's/ Operations Research/ Statistics. Subjects may only be confirmed in the exam notification as per the available vacancy.

Age
Upper age limit is of 28 years and age relaxation available for SC/ST/OBC/HH/OH candidates and Armed Forces Personnel.

DRDO SET has 2 set of exams with 3 hours each. Part 1 is of 100 questions with multiple choices, correct answers have 4 marks awarded and for incorrect answer 1 mark will be deducted. Part 2 consists 50 questions for testing candidate’s aptitude relevant to Applied Research & Development, correct answer have 2 marks and for incorrect answer, ½ mark will be deducted.
